Kitchens have come a long way since the 60's where the room was pretty much segregated from the rest of the house. Nowadays the kitchen is often an entertaining area while the meal is prepared. Kitchen designs have changed to reflect the values of today's society. Food has become a central theme important to not just the woman of the house, but to most family members who contribute to making breakfast and lunch or snacks throughout the day.

Kitchens are now designed to integrate with the rest of the living area in a way that has never been seen before. A well designed and thought out kitchen layout with handy features makes life easier for everyone involved. Out of all the rooms in the house, kitchens will benefit from careful organization and planning.

Thankfully for women (and the many men who cook), they are no longer shut away from the rest of the house. Does this have to do with the changing role of women in society? Or is it because of the family's changing schedules and needs? It doesn't really matter. What is important is that the food preparation area is more accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved.
