Kitchen colors can be tricky to plan because not only walls, floor, window coverings and trim have to be considered, but also cabinets, counters, appliances, and accessories. Neutrals remain the most popular choice, but splashes of color are increasingly found in contemporary kitchen designs.

Here are some examples of color schemes for the kitchen:

A standard but still attractive color scheme: stainless steel appliances, black granite countertops and wood cabinets and floors. White ceiling and accessories go well to compliment.

A classic look: white countertops, white and grey marbled floors, beige/tan cabinets, white shelving and stainless steel appliances.

Liven things up a bit with: Burgundy walls with pine cabinets, black granite counters and stainless steel appliances. Green plant accents tie everything together and add pizzaz.

Contemporary look: black cabinets with steel handles, white walls, white tile backsplash, steel grey kitchen floor, stainless appliances, white accents.

Funky Contemporary: dark brown floors, white countertops, mixture of lime green and 70s orange cabinets, white backsplash, dark brown walls, stainless appliances.

Uber Contemporary: dark brown cabinets with steel handles, stainless steel countertops, white walls, grey-green or concrete grey floors, white and black accents.
