If you have laminate countertops already in your kitchen, you can resurface them easily yourself. A few tools and items from home improvement stores are often all you need to create a new look for the counters in your kitchen. Changing your counters will make a dramatic change to the feel of your kitchen area.
You have a few choices to work with. You can apply a new laminate directly on top of the existing laminate. Clean and sand the area to allow the new surface to stick properly. Alternatively you can remove the existing laminate and prepare the plywood or particle board for the new laminate. Another option is to replace the entire top of the counter with premade laminate counters.
Your local home improvement store will likely have all of the tools, glues and other items necessary to resurface your counters. Look into renting larger items you might need rather than buying them. Changing kitchen counters is a task only done every 5-10 years. It isn’t necessary to buy everything if you can rent.
