One of the reasons it is important to decide on an appliance update at this time is for the design and layout planning of the new kitchen. You may want to buy a range or fridge that is larger than your current models. What better time to upgrade to a bigger size than when you are redesigning your kitchen.
The past decade has seen a huge change in appliance features and styles. You may choose to go from an electric range to a natural gas powered range. Same goes for the fridge. Many new models have different dimensions than those of a few decades ago. You may want a wider model than you have now. Plan around a new refrigerator during your remodel to save time and energy down the road.
Picture Perfect
The final reason you should take a hard and honest look at your appliances is for purely esthetic reasons. The rest of your kitchen will be brand new and just what you wanted. Will you honestly be happy with the results with your old appliances in the picture? For many people the answer will be yes; especially for those who have purchased new appliances within 5 years. But some people will definitely want to consider a change.
Don’t put off deciding on new appliances at this stage of the game. Take a look at your budget; take a look at your needs; take a look at your wants and if everything points to an appliance change then plan for it before your new kitchen is installed, not after.
