kitchen remodeling appliances
When you are doing kitchen remodeling, appliances are something you need to consider replacing. Many people feel they have to replace their appliances when they remodel. While they are ripping everything else out, putting back older appliances may seem cheap. Put some thought into it because new appliances aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be.
We have talked to many people lately who have bought new appliances of one kind or another and spent quite a bit of money only to be disappointed. Lots of problems crop up and for ones with complex electronic controls even a small problem can be an expensive endeavor. Sure some of them come with extended warranties, but who wants the hassle of living without your oven or fridge for even a few days.
One woman we know spent close to $2500 on a washer/dryer set and she ended up having to return them twice! The first time was only after having them a day! The next time was a few weeks later. Just because the price tag is large doesn’t always mean you’re getting a reliable product (unfortunately).
New items seem to be produced quickly and the quality control isn’t always there. For the amount she spent it seems insane that she had to go through the hassle of going through 3 sets in the first few weeks just to get ones that worked properly. And she’s not the only person we’ve heard horror stories from.
We’ve heard a lot of people say that appliances that are a bit older can last longer because they were simply made better. They may be easier to fix too. Unless you know that your appliances are close to dying or they aren’t working well, consider keeping your older appliances when doing a kitchen remodel. If you need to replace, look at getting some second hand items. If you find out about a model that has been great for someone you know, consider looking into that year.
One reason to consider getting new appliances for your remodeling/renovating project is if you’d like to upgrade to a bigger size. Remodelling is the perfect time to install these because they will take up more space than your older models and need to be designed into the floorplan.
